The Sword of Lyric Series ~ by Sharon Hinck

May 29th, 2008 by vicki

The RestorerLast Wednesday I picked up The Restorer, the first book in The Sword of Lyric Series by Sharon Hinck. I’ve had the book ever since I attended the release party for Symphony of Secrets, but during the busy speaking season, enjoying a good read is something I don’t often get to enjoy. I’ve never read much Christian fantasy or fantasy at all, so this was stepping into new territory for me. The Restorer was absolutly gripping! This is the book that set off the marathon reading I did for the next 6 days. By Thursday night I had finished The Restorer  and was in a serious panic. The panic began when I realized that I had book 3 sitting on my shelf, but not book 2. Seriously, when you finish reading book 1, I highly recommend that you have books, The Restorer’s Son, at the ready! After emailing the author and asking her if she enjoyed doing this to her readers (to which she responded with hand wringing and a conspiratory cackle…can you read that into an email?), I called my local Christian book store. To my relief they had one copy left on the shelf, which they promised to hold for me until my hero husband could get there to buy it!  Here’s the backcover copy: Read the rest of this entry »

Sharon Hinck Week!

May 28th, 2008 by vicki

I’ve had the most amazing week! Last Monday I picked up Sharon Hinck’s newest release, Symphony of Secrets. Less than 24 hours later I had finished the book and was hungry for more of Sharon’s work. So, in the last week I have not only read the afore mentioned novel, I’ve also read The Restorer, The Restorer’s Son, and The Restorer’s Journey! Sadly, I’ve now read everything Sharon has published and will have to wait for her next book. For the next four days I have to tell you about these books though.

Symphony of Secrets is a lighthearted mystery that is captivating. Talented fluteist Amy Johnson’s dreams come true when she wins a spot witht he Minneapolis Symphony. But this amateur sleuth has trouble eoncentrating on the notes as she begins to see devious motives behind her fellow musicians’ many mishaps. Meanwhile, her musically taltented teenage daughter wants to give it all upf or-gasp- the cheerleading squad. What’s a musical mom to do? Can Amy fine-tune her investigation before the symphony is forced to close and she loses not only her dream job but her promising new relationship with the conductor? Read the rest of this entry »

Invisible

May 21st, 2008 by vicki

So, what do you think of my new website? I plan to post about all the wonderful people who have had a hand in this thing of beauty, but will do so later this week.  Right now I need to share something else…

Earlier this week a friend sent me a forward (which I usually don’t appreciate, but I LOVED this one). It was called The Invisible Mother.  I’m going to post it here, but then I want you to read to the bottom as I have a few comments and a special surprise!
